This very much sought after tax exempt 1974 Yamaha DT250A Enduro has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 10283 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
The single most important purchase for classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be commercial venture or just hobby interest it all starts here!.
PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike has few bits missing.....Key, r/h mirror, tool kit tail light being the most obvious. It has obviously stood while so the battery is flat, paintwork is faded, tyres seat cover are perished, tank is mucky inside carburetor is stuck.
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........The wheels are straight with good hubs brake plates. Forks yokes look straight with good chrome. Rear mudguard is solid. Headlight hangers are good. Instruments switches look ok. Carburetor is free sliding off the twist grip. Exhaust is original solid. Seat base is in good enough condition to restore. The engine is cosmetically clean, it turns over nicely off the kick starter – sounds/feels great has compression – When we hooked it up to good battery fed it few squirts of ether it fires tries to start run but it,s obvious the carb needs attention.......don't fret we didn't run it long.
