I've got 1983 Yamaha Venture XVZ1200 for sale. I've had it for two riding seasons and I've done lot of fixing and upgrades.

This is the base model without all the extras that plague you on 30+ year old motorcycles (crappy out-dated stereo systems, air compressor for auto-leveling, CB radios, etc).

It's in good shape. I've stripped down some of the fairings to give it more sporty look and to show of that sexy and aggressive V-4 engine. 83 was great year for the Venture, as it was more powerful and rode sportier and handled better than the Goldwings of that year.

There's 37K original miles on the clock. I'd put on new tires last year, and they have only 1,578 miles on them at this time. All gears are tight and shift properly. modified the air box in order to put on less expensive paper filters (the Yamaha original filter is costly). And with that small common modification, went ahead and put in K&N air filter.

Just changed the oil with synthetic and new K&N oil filter as well. have maybe 400 miles on this oil change. Everything important works, signals, brakes, radio (dependable aftermarket AM-FM-CD/USB). The engine runs strong and there are zero issues with it. No leaks.
Just couple of days ago, installed new NGK brand DPR8EA-9 spark plugs.

I did complete fork rebuild same time put the new tires on (35,644 miles), replacing all wear internals and upgraded with Progressive springs. Again, all wear parts inside the forks were replaced with new--not cleaned and reinstalled. With this extensive upgrade, there is no longer need for pneumatic pressure in the forks (but still possible if you feel the need).
And with the addition of the Progressive springs, also bypassed the hydraulic-controlled forks anti-dive system (a common mod for Venture guys to attain better braking). upgraded the headlight with LED, which was one of the greatest upgrades I'd done....Tons of front lighting now.

The Computer Monitoring System (CMS) is bit flaky at times, flashing incorrect fluid levels. It's pretty common on these bikes. Most Venture people, including me ignore them when they do occasionally flash on screen.

This body is pretty good. just sprayed it with "hammered pewter" silver finish, which came out pretty good. Gives it neat lightly-textured finish that doesn't require constant cleaning/waxing and worrying of scratches and imperfections. Of course it is original 1983 plastic and there's very minor crack here and there, small repairs and mods but overall, the fairings look pretty dang good overall.
I'd recently replaced all rubber grommets where fairing panels attach. Upon painting, de-badged nearly the whole bike. Just "YAMAHA" badge left on the windshield trim remaining and casting on the engine.

Previous owner had upgraded the fuse panel, another common upgrade. Seats have no tears. can't think of single thing that does not work the way it should. Gauges work as intended. Oh yea, that $&@! digital clock gives me fits. Sometimes can set the time, other times can't. Its minor irritant.

I put in new LED headlamp which ROCKS!  One of my favorite upgrades.  Nice, bright white and powerful.
I'd also recently did the common "TCI relocate"--this is essentially the removal and relocation of the "brain box".  The stock location made it prone to water/moisture.  This was pain to remove, "bake" the box (oven drying) and relocation up higher on the engine where it's dryer.  No more worries when washing the bike down now.

This thing hauls butt, and does so in comfort for rider and passenger. It's got great power and is very comfortable for long rides. think it is one of the sexier of the big touring monsters, especially since minimized some of the fairings. It sounds pretty good too, as had modded the exhaust by drilling the baffles. I'm happy with the results. Makes the V-4 sound as mean as it really is, and without droning and driving you crazy on the highway.

There's two very large Venture forums on the internet with guys that love to assist fellow riders. I'd learned ton from them and it's nice to hop on-line and have an prompt answer to question. They also have great libraries of data, how-tos, mods and tips for 1st Generation Yamaha Venture folks.
If you buy it, I'll throw in service manual and few other extra parts have laying around.
WHAT'S IT NEED?She's ready to ride, with no reliability issues and nothing funky going on.  Drive her with confidence right now to the West coast if you choose to.
If classic, easy-to-work-on 1st Gen Ventures are for you, then shoot me message or call me at 8one2, 225-eightteen-fourty2 with questions.  I've got nothing to hide here.  My name is Perry.
I can work with you on shipping options that you acquire and manage.  Local pickup is even better.  I'm in Georgetown, Indiana just 15-20-minutes from Louisville, Kentucky's airport.
