Original 1971 Mustang Mach 429 CJ with ram air, close ratio speed and 3:50 rear end. These are all numbers matching and original to the car. This car was one owner car until around 2000 when bought it. The original owner had started restoration in 1990, contracting body shop to repair the rust. It was always garaged but was winter driven so there was rust around the rear wheels, rockers, bottom of passenger door and front aprons/lower fenders. This is typical of BC driven cars that garaged. If it wasn't garaged, the rust would be much more extensive. All rust was repaired in 1990 except for the front sheet metal and bottom of passenger door at which point the original owner ran out of funds and then parked the car in his garage for 10 years having driven it just 53,000 miles. There is faded oil change sticker on the door indicating next change at 54K. The body shop removed the front fenders/hood and bumper/grille assembly to continue work back in 1990. They have been stored with the car and are untouched featuring original paint. can mount them for transport.
Everything is numbers matching and original to the car except for the radiator which was replaced with service replacement from Ford and Holley carb was switched for the original. Some hoses were modified at this time to fit the Holley. have the original carb in box but it probably needs rebuild. The engine turns easily, sparks and will run but the carb started leaking gas and the original water pump started leaking antifreeze so left it untouched as the engine has never been apart. have put borescope into each cylinder and they were shiny with the original cross hatching pattern readily visible. It currently has fresh Royal Purple break in oil in it but can't be started until the carb and water pump have been replaced. also checked with the borescope to confirm it has bolt mains. The exhaust is complete with correct manifolds, heat shield and shiny correctly numbered exhaust tips.
The original speed and rear end haven't been touched and worked perfectly. Still has the original clutch and lock out rods are functioning.
The original interior is in decent shape but could use good cleaning. Seats are good, drivers door panel has wear and the headliner needs replacing. also have replacement carpet set (boxed) as there is some wear on the drivers foot pad. The fold down seat was removed by the body shop when they were doing the sheet metal work but it is in excellent condition. The front seats and dash, gauges etc are all original and never been out.
Includes all the original ram air equipment. Also, the original owner painted the Magnum rims black so that they wouldn't be stolen while at the shop. They should clean up with lacquer thinner to reveal original shiny rims. only have one original cap but managed to find set of NOS assembly line correct (the thin 5/8ths caps) ones that will come with the car.
I bought the car in 2000 and stored it in heated garage for the next 15 years. It's basically time capsule from 1990 as no work was done on the car during that time other than oiling the cylinders. did acquire about 5k worth of NOS parts for the restoration that will go with the car. am selling it since became disabled and feel that could not restore this car to the level it deserves. Perhaps you can. I'll post better pictures as I'm able the ones have were taken last week for documentation purposes, not for the intention of selling.
