:“Finished in an electric lime exterior, the car’s paint and trim are in overall good order, with only some blemishes visible upon close inspection while the paint is very presentable, it is not a show winning finish. This example was made in Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan factory on August 10, 1966 (code 10V).The car’s engine bay is tidy, the battery appears in good order and the car’s chrome bumpers shine brilliantly. Inside, the car’s black vinyl and brushed aluminum interior (code 2A), is in overall good, original order. The front bucket seats are in mostly good shape, but the driver’s seat does show some blemishes on the bottom cushion. The black carpet is in very good order, too, while the headliner is in good, original condition and shows some blemishes, the three-spoke steering wheel, with its huge center cap, is an evolution of the original steering control. The rear windows do bind and are inoperable.”

This example is great, driver-quality car that will please its next owner and turn heads with its vibrant electric green finish!Finished in an electric lime exterior, the car’s paint and trim are in overall good order, with only some blemishes visible upon close inspection while the paint is very presentable, it is not show winning finish. This example was made in Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan factory on August 10, 1966 (code 10V).The car’s engine bay is tidy, the battery appears in good order and the car’s chrome bumpers shine brilliantly. This Pony rolls on generic radials in front and Solar Premium S/R 400 tires in the rear, all size 195/75R14. Each tire is mounted to an American Racing vented alloy wheel. The tires and wheels are all in good, original order.Under the hood is 289 CID Windsor V-8 engine with dual exhausts that’s been lightly modified with replacement air cleaner, and other minor bits. The engine is buttoned to C4 three-speed automatic transmission (code W) and 2.83:1 (code 2) rear end. Driver conveniences include remote for the sideview mirror.Inside, the car’s black vinyl and brushed aluminum interior (code 2A), is in overall good, original order. The rear windows do bind and are inoperable. The instrument panel, inner door panels and shifter are in similar, good, original order. Completing the interior is Kenwood AM/FM stereo with CD player, remote control and two speakers in the rear package shelf.Prior to 1967, Ford’s designers began drawing up larger version even as the original was achieving sales success and while “Iacocca later complained about the Mustang's growth, he did oversee the redesign for 1967.” The major mechanical feature was to allow the installation of big-block V-8 engine. The overall size, interior and cargo space were increased. Exterior trim changes included concave taillights, side scoop (1967 model) and chrome (1968 model) side ornamentation, square rear-view mirrors and usual yearly wheel and gas cap changes. The 1967 Deluxe Interior was revised, discontinuing the embossed running horse motif on the seat backs (the source for the “pony interior” nickname) in favor of new deluxe interior package, which included special color options, brushed aluminum (from August 1966 production) or woodgrain dash trim, seat buttons and special door panels. The hardtop also included upholstered quarter trim panels, carryover from the 1965–1966 deluxe interior. The 1967 hardtop also had the chrome quarter trim caps, carried over from 1965–1966, but these were painted to match the interior in 1968 models. The 1967 deluxe interior included stainless steel-trimmed seat back shells, similar to those in the Thunderbird. These were dropped at the end of the 1967 model year and were not included in the woodgrain-trimmed 1968 interior. The deluxe steering wheel, which had been included in the deluxe interior for the 1965–1966, became optional, and could also be ordered with the standard interior.Ponycar competition to this Mustang in 1967 was extensive – AMC’s Javelin, Chevrolet’s Camaro and Chevy II, Dodge’s Charger and Dart, Ford’s own Falcon Futura, Mercury’s Cougar, Plymouth’s Barracuda and Pontiac’s Firebird.Ford and Mustang fans, if you’re looking for project vehicle with decent foundation, this late-60s Mustang would be great place to start.
