6T08C234400 1966 Ford Mustang289 V-8 Convertible Project                                       fromMustangBeginnings Upfor auction is an original 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible.Goodrestorable Mustang Convertibles are very hard to find.ThisMustang can be restored into an awesome Classic. Ifyou have ever wanted 66 Mustang Convertible project that was affordable, thisis the car.  The interior and engine alsolook to be in good shape. Original 289 V-8 car, with stick shift, and lugsuspension both front and rear.   Wewould recommend rebuilding the original engine that comes with the car, but youcould also consider replacing it with rebuilt 289, 302, or even 351 engine,and either C-4 automatic or T-5 manual transmission if you want to be ableto spin the tires easily.  Call us if youneed different engine and/or transmission. All of the engine/transmission options are available separately at veryreasonable prices.PAINTCOLOR:Thecar came as an original Silver Blue convertible, with Blue interior, but onceyou do the restoration, it can be repainted to any color of your choice. Theoriginal top was Black, but it will need some restoration to have itfunctioning properly again. It comes equipped with its original manual transmission,so the clutch pedal is already in place if you decide to upgrade to T-5 orbetter. Thisconvertible was beautiful see pictures of how it could look when fullyrestored. Itbrought buyers into the showrooms by the thousands and Ford’s strategyworked-selling more Mustangs than ever before.   When fully restored, this car will easilysell for $40,000 or more.
BODY:Thiscar has good exterior body shell, no accidents, and most all the panels arevery straight and the quarters are in decent condition.  If you havebody repair skills, this is great project.Theframe of this Convertible is in fair condition and straight, but it will neednew floor pans, rocker channels, torque boxes, and frame rail extensions.  The front frame rails look to be in goodcondition, which makes it relatively easy car to restore. Dynacorn now makesa jig welded bottom half for any Mustang convertible which makes restoringconvertibles much easier than it used to be. The convertible top will need to be replaced, and the vinyl windowshould be changed.Ifyou have questions about how to restore this car, please contact us atMustangBeginnings and we will help all we can to make sure you have asuccessful restoration. INTERIOR:
The interior should be brought  back to excellence. The interior will needwork, but it is really the easiest part of the restoration.  The good news is that you can see what isneeded. You aren’t accepting someone else’s mistakes or bad repairs. Allthe wiring, instrument panel, seats, etc. will come with the car but will needto be restored.  Thecar comes with all of its seats, both front and back. The door panels and dashpad are included, but you probably want new ones anyway.

ENGINEBAY:
Engine bay is in great condition with the original cylinder engine andtransmission.  The battery tray will needa little work but not much.   289, 302,or 351 engine will drop in easily.  Wecan supply any combination or engine/transmission desired.  Please contact us separately for pricing.Both engine and transmission will need to be rebuilt, but you would probablywant to do that anyway.
BRAKE SYSTEM:
The mustang has front and rear drum brakes. They are intact and complete.  If you would rather have front disk brakes, theyare easy to add
GLASS:
The convertible will come with good door glass and side window glass.
MISC.
 The Mustang comes with its original engine,transmission, seats, and most all of its parts. This car isvery complete. However, proper restoration involves lots of new parts,chrome, etc.  I have couple of contactsfor all the other NOS stuff you may needThecar is definitely project but we can help where you need our help.  Wecan sell you any of the items you may need, like new seat covers, new carpetEtc.
