Old age and decreasing health force the sale of my Cadillaccollection.I bought this car in 2012 from gentleman in Los Alamos, California, at 85,000.00. Contrary to my expectations the car was in doubtful condition and, consequently, was thoroughly restored in 2012/2013. Thebody was taken off and body and chassis were disassembled and bead blasted toshow necessary repair areas of which there were many. Mainly on the body. Engine and transmission were overhauled with all new parts aswas the rest of the car. The right hand cylinder head was faulty casting, leaking water to the outside. replaced both cylinder heads with almost brand new "war heads" that got from Steve Passmore in England. Paint, chrome, interior, brakes, front axle,roof etc. etc. all new at the time. Too many things to mention. Take look at my website, highlighted below. The car stands like new evennow after the time that has passed since the restoration. This is what the car has cost me: The buyingprice plus escrow, freight and bank fees was € 70.886,68 Parts,chrome shop, upholstry, farmed out work etc. was € 33.619,22Twoyears of work € 0,00 Total € 104,505,90Thisis the Euro sum. Converted to $$ it would be 115,215.15So the restoration is for free! This Cadillac was builtin 1940, it is model 1940 -7567 2-door convertible. Itis truly gigantic car for two seater, 141" wheelbase!!. According to Walter M.P. McCall's book "80 years of Cadillac/LaSalle", only 30 of these high priced cars weremanufactured in 1940, of which few have survived. very rarecar, indeed! Body number is 23 out of the 30 manufactured. This one is the only one in Germany. There is benchseat in the front and two folding seats in the rear. This is most elegant, very large convertible that attracts awe and admiration everywhere. The body color is light beige and the leather seats and door panels are green leather. The top is black canvas. The instrument panel was burled walnut painted by local paint brusher to fit the wooden door panel tops. The car had the 1941 trim strips on all fenders which liked and put back on after the restoration. It also sported 1941£ skirts which didn't like and left off, but will include in the sale as well as the spare tire covers. The fender wells were rusted and liked the looks of the car much better without fender mounts so they were closed. The intact spare tire covers (even with key) will go with the car. There are also several spares that will also be included along with shop manual, an owner's manual and whatever else can find. The car is registered and can be driven atwish. It will only be sold prepaid or against cash but without Germanlicense plates and the local registration papers. There is, ofcourse, no warranty for an 80 years old automobile. The car will be sold with valid German registration, the Bill of Sale of the former owner to me and the California title punched "US CUSTOMS 08. 01. 12 HOUSTON".
