FULLY STREET LEGAL ENGINEERING CERTIFICATE REGISTERED in NSW!
This is the USA model, Litre V-Twin, 1981 Yamaha VX920RH Virago imported from CaliforniaYouTube Video Walkaround and engine start
The numbers-matching engine is Yamaha 920cc (0.92 Litre) V-twin, similar to the XV1000 which was available in Australia.Only this 1981 model and the 1982 models had the enclosed chain-drive (chain enclosed so no grease flies out, and chain lasts 50,000kms), all later models are shaft drive. It had only 6000 original miles on it, and have it's last number-plate from California in 1984, real barn-find, it hadn't been used in 30+ years!Imported by motorcycle dealer in Melbourne, with proper Import Approval, trucked to Sydney, rebuilt, restored and converted to Cafe Racer, then certified with VSCCS Compliance Certification (Engineering Certificate) in 2017 by different, independent Engineering company.Been registered in NSW ever since with no issues. No modifications since getting engineering certificate rego, and will be sold with valid rego.Despite the low miles, the engine had full top-end rebuild, and the starter system was upgraded to that of the 1984+ models, which eliminates the mechanical problems of the older starting systems.All-new electrics and wiring, with Motogadget M-Unit at it's centre. This has lot of built-in features, including alarm, indicator fade-in and fade-out etc, along with concealed key-less RFID ignition. (learn more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdIeh2c6O5c)Custom dash, including digital speedo and 'idiot lights' fabricated into the back of the large headlight. All switchgear and controls have been upgraded to modern Triumph units and work flawlessly.Italian Tarozzi Clip-Ons and Foot pegs were used, and are located in relaxed, non-cramped position (I'm 6'2").Petrol tank was taken back to bare metal, sanded and clear powdercoated. Dents were intentionally left to add bit of charm.
Gives great patina, has showed no signs of rusting in the 2.5 years since it was done.Custom hand-tooled leather grips, enscribed with 'Cafe Noir' and custom leather battery box.
Loud Horn (Denali Soundbomb 113dB) ideal for commuting :-)Brand new SSB Lithium battery, in the hand-tooled leather case.
Naugahyde seat from Dime City Cycles.Brand-new Carburetor setup, dual Mikuni VM34s, avoiding all the problems with the originals, that you can't even get spares for, purchased from here: (http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/mikuni/carb-kits/yamaha/ncs920-yamaha-virago-750-920-mikuni-vm34-carburetor-kit-by-ncs.html)Original exhaust, so no problems with rego, also have custom stainless unit available, along with whole bunch of spares and most of the original seat/parts if required.Custom numberplate can come with the bike (AHA), its bit of Dad-joke, yamAHA... and most people take while to figure out what make of bike it is..... anyways....Front forks rebuilt with Progressive springs.
New remote reservoir front brake Master cylinder from sports bike, adjustable levers, minimum legal-size turned up mirrors adapted from corvette, upgraded rear shock from Triumph, centre stand and side stand for easy working on the bike, or photo shoots, large twin front discs, loads of spares, most of original parts if desired, lot's more, I'm sure I've forgotten.Legitimate sale, with kids and work, just don't get chance to ride and running out of space.Listed elsewhere, reserve right to remove this listing.
Not in rush to sell, open to reasonable offers.Local pickup, or can assist in arranging transport
