1989 Volvo 240GL *added photos of interior Red Auto 1989 240GL, the best car Volvo ever made, these will run forever will not find better one especially not in red that isn't sun faded! We have owned it for 20 years, (purchased from the original owner, ie its owner car). She was our second car until we replaced her with newer car two years ago and has had very little use since, other than to drive to the shops on the weekend for coffee just to keep her running well. We just can't justify having third car anymore so she needs new owner. Registered until 15th August 2017! Has always been registered and driven. Not interested in offers, the car is well worth the starting price especially with this much rego included. Good points:- its 240, the best car Volvo ever made, the whole drivetrain engine transmission and diff are bullet proof, many examples of this car have done 1,000,000km on the original drive train!- has been our family car for 20 years and looked after by my mechanic the whole time- very little use for the last 3-4 years- bonnet was repainted red by professional panel beater about years ago as the paint had started to fade there.- power steering- power brakes- aircon was converted to r134a (the new gas) by Scuderia Veloce Motors in the late 90's (the official Australian Volvo distributor at the time), but it needs recharging as it hasn't been re-gassed for about years and isn't cold anymore.- premium black on white number plates included with sale- months registration (has been continuously registered its whole life from new- factory alloy wheels Bad points (please bare with me have listed everything could as want you to know what you are buying, if you are after Volvo 240 you will be hard pressed to find more honest example left anywhere, especially in red, the car really just needs new owner to give her some love and attention as these are fairly minor bits and pieces that need doing that didn't have time for): - driver's side mirror was broken in the shopping center carpark (just the glass of the mirror not the plastic housing), have replaced it with stick on plastic mirror that isn't as good- few scrapes and dents from St Ives shopping center carpark over the years, have photographed them so please have look, the main dents are one behind rear LHS passenger side door, and one on the lip on the LHS of the boot lid.- plastic trim/mud guard behind rear drivers side wheel has come off slightly- may only get year or two more out of the tyres depending on how much you drive it- drivers side window started dropping so had my mechanic just fix the window in the up position since we stopped using the car as much, probably wouldn't be much trouble to fix as its fairly simple mechanism, the door handle it also sticking out at the top - had an aftermarket sound system installed ten years ago and it stopped working last year, not sure what is exactly wrong, think it may be the head unit, it is missing the drivers side door speaker as somehow managed to lose it when investigating what was wrong with the sound system.- dash lights stopped working recently have temporary light that you can use to illuminate the speedo at night, probably just needs bulb replacing in dash- one of the kids burnt couple of holes in the rear seat with magnifying glass when we were on family holiday 15+ years ago.- small tear (approx 2cm) in rear of drivers seat- carpet could do with good clean there is some dirt on the carpet around the area of the shifter- interior light doesn't work, may just be bulb, haven't checked.- odometer stopped working at 208,767 in 2014, I'm guessing the car has done 2-3,000 km's if that since and has been serviced twice during that time, including oil change- passenger side mirror missing piece of plastic outer trim but doesn't affect its functionality- engine bay could do with detailing/clean Pickup must be within two weeks of end of auction, full payment within days of Auction end.
