1978 Valiant Regal CL(Man. 1977)4.0L Straight Six, 3-speed AutoExt Colour; Moonstone (Chrysler's name for70's Gold Brown I bought this car or so years ago andhave loved driving it but have recently moved to smaller inner city housewith no garage so reluctantly have to sell it. It's currently in storage unit inThomastown, Melbourne. I've done less than 10,000 km's sincebuying the car and it's been very well maintained over that time. All work was completed by decent mechanicsand have all relevant papers and receipts. New rear drum brakes were installed and the front discs reconditioned,white wall tires fitted, reconditioned the starter motor. new exhaust wasfitted, and new battery plus regular maintenance such as regular tuning of the carby to keep it running smooth. Ialso had some rust cut out and fixed in the engine bay. This is visible in the engine photo in the top right, it's the black painted section. Any work was done to keep the car runningwell, but not quicker, as don't thrash it it's Sunday cruiser. It seats six thanks to the front bench seatand column shift and has the power to move full car if you need to, or it'dhave no trouble hauling caravan imagine. The interior is in great condition as youcan see from the photos and it comes with current rego and road worthy sothat shows you what condition the almost 40 year old car is in mechanically. There are two areas of concerncosmetically. The paint is original andthe sill below the front wind shield has spidery rust which is very common inthese cars as it's almost dead flat there and the water just sits there. Also the paint on the right rear quarterpanel is going and it appears to have previously had rust fixed there but I'mtold if you have the skills this isn't too difficult to clean up. The valiant goes great and comes with loadsof spares that the original owner had in the boot, plus the original manualthat has the owner's hand written notes and photo from the day it was bought,pretty cool. I took down the previous listing so could relist the car with the following extra information as was getting few similar questions. Shortly after buying the car had the aircon regassed and looked over, it works fine but it is 70's aircon unit so it's bit rubbish by today's standards. The paint is original and subsequently has all the little chips and marks you'd expect from an almost 40 year old car. The car hasn't been smoked in, or had any food eaten in it while owned it.
