Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV Series 1Chassis No: AR145289*Engine Number: 00548*****
This is the most heartbraking ad have ever had to post. am truly torn to part with my faithful and original 1750 GTV knowing will never get another one. have owned it for almost years.Sadly it sits covered up in my garage and just do not have the time to use it anymore.
This is my second Series 1750 GTV. sold my previous one 15 years ago in WA. That one had later litre motor but this one IS (ONE) Previous owner vehicle.I bought this of the original owner an elderly Italian man who cried as drove it away. He was ill and could not drive anymore. He put the ‘mag’ wheels on in the early 70’s.
I intended to use it as often as could and restore it as went along. It was driven by me about 4/5 times week but as got busier at work (I am Baptist Pastor) used the Alfa less and less.
It has been unregistered for nearly years but is started and moved around my property regularly. The vehicle drives as only Series Alfa can. It brings smile on the face every time drove it and the ‘twisties’ were especially joy.
ENGINEThe engine is the original one with the original twin Weber carbs. The engine number and stampings prove it to be an early 1750 GTV motor. The motor had its oil changed regularly in my ownership. It clearly needs tune-up and fettling but still runs beautifully. It does not leak or use oil.
GEARBOXOne off the greatest motoring thrills is to drive line of these Alfa’s and the whole experience is made by the mating of one of the great gearboxes ever made. The gears engage and ‘flow’ beautifully and it ALWAYS has the right ratio for any bend. There is no greater pleasure than attacking ‘S’ bends whilst working through this gearbox mated to torquey and responsive motor of just 1.75 litres.
INTERIORThe seeats are original and includes the highly sought after after “bat-wing’ front seats which are kind of ‘art-deco’ design. There is nothing in this vehicle that does not scream out class and attention to detail. The seats vanilla is torn and has had vinyl patches crudely stuck on them by the elderly previous owner. It was done to keep it on the road and serviceable but they need restoring.
The woodwork is all there but again had had an old man’s touch of being ‘varnished’ in an unsuitable way. These things are like battle scars it has gotten over the years in the hands of someone who loved it, drove it but could not restore it. This is not pampered ‘show’ car in any one of its aspects. It was loved and used!!
All the dials and gauges work and the original chrome work is still all there. The seatbelts are the original Alfa ones for this vehicle.
BODYWORKAlfa’s bodywork has reputation but this one is remarkably rust free. There is small bubble or two on the sill but the wings and bonnet is perfect. The previous owner however was involved in rear end prang with clear evidence of this on the rear panel. saw on the net that the rear panels can be bought both here and in the UK however was not wanting to take it off the road at the time so it remains as is.The damage was only panel damage and absolutely no Chassis damage. drove it as it is for the years it was in my ownership. There is some filler in the boot lid but there is no rust rot. The filler was to cover up the imperfections rear end prang produces.
MECHANICALThis vehicle has not let me down in all my ownership.I replaced the Brake Master Cylinder and the Clutch Slave cylinder and that’s it in my ownership!I just put in Premium fuel and off it went never failing to start of get me home. The tyres as in perfect condition. The bumpers have no dents and are stainless steel.
I appreciate this vehicle is nearly years old. Hard to believe something so beautiful and purposeful is that old! guess it is bit like Sophia Loren TIMELESS!!
For those who want to put it on Historic Rego and drive it then it is ready for that. For those who want to restore it and have fast appreciating and classic blue-chip investment then this is the perfect starting point all original and one previous owner.
The vehicle comes with number of new and some S/H spare parts.COMES WITH AN ADDITIONAL ORIGINAL WOOD RIM ‘NARDI’ Steering wheelIt also comes with the rare original Owners Handbook, Servicing Agents Book and with Workshp Manual and host of other literature including original brochure and other books and magazines that reviewed these GTV’s.
CONDITIONSThe successful bidder will make direct deposit into my bank account within days of auction close the full amount. NO PAYPAL!!Vehicle WILL NOT BE RELEASED until full payment made according to these terms. You bid to buy and not WISH you COULD BUY please bid only if you already have the money. Please don’t waste my time.

On 09-Nov-17 at 09:01:23 AEDST, seller added the following information:Sorry for the Typo’s in the ad. Should have read it first in pre-view. Obviously there is one sentence that should read “I appreciate this car is nearly 50 years old...”I have had tremendous response to the ad and need to say that the vehicle is on EBay to sell. The GTV is however advertised elsewhere and reserve the right to end the auction if sold.
Some have asked re the damage to the rear. There is no damage to the boot base it was just the rear end and clearly some damage to the boot lid. It does not nor has it ever affected the driving and handling of the Alfa. Re Spares: have new doughnut, bearing and housing fo propshaft, rear lights, etc. Old replaced items like Brake master cylinder comes with the car if can find it!!.Mardi Steering wheel is still in box it arrived in from USA! All literature have for this GTV and Alfa’s in general goes with it.On 10-Nov-17 at 07:40:05 AEDST, seller added the following information:Washed the Alfa, checked all levels, started it up and allowed the temperature guard to register nicely (as always do NEVER drive off until water temp shows it is warmed up).Tookk it for long drive down the road. live in the country on long dead end road. AMAZING the joy of driving it again was huge. If this cannot put smile on the face on driver then they must be dead. Strong pick-up and amazing torque. No smoke whatsoever from the engine.BELLISSIMO!!
Just wanted to say also that reserve the right to end the auction at any time as the GTV is advertised elsewhere.
